Xedos6 V6 long start
Hello from Slovenia, nice to see Xedos community so alive!!
I need help on my X6, as it has started to have problems on ignition. Here is the situation: Xedos6, 2.0 V6 - 1993 220.000km in past 2000km changed items with new: - timing belt with hidraulic spanner - belt for servo and water pump - fuel filter - fuel pump - battery - ignition cables (NGK) all 6 + 1 main - spark plugs changed 8.000km Facts: - car will always start, never it happened that it would not - problem is that it needs 4-5 seconds to ignite, so its igniting too long for sure, but ignites. - after ignition there is no problem whats-o-ever, performance is 100%, fuel / oil consumption normal, really no problem, only bloody ignition Tests made: -fuel pump works - i bridged F/P - GND on diagnostic, and fuel pump started before ignition, but still takes time to ignite - I bridged TEN/GND, and puted a 5W bulb on FEN/B+ - put power on, no error codes (flashes) unless really LED is needed? But I assume 5W bulb is also ok - the only time I can make car start normal is with the trick: start the car for 1 sec. then release the key with leaving it on ACC, then after 3-4 second start again and car starts in 1-2 sec. PRoblems accure if hot or cold (overnight stand) So I am suspecting fuel pressure regulator - could this do the trick??? Please advise, thanks!! |
Hi and welcome! :)
You have your start problems even if the motor is cold or warm? When the engine starts it's running round or you feel some vibrations? If the fuel pump wasn't changed, I would say this will cause the problem. You've got a new pump? Have you checked that there is no leak in the fuel system? You can try following: ignition on - wait 3 seconds, then start. As far as I know the fuel pump will start when ignition is on, and if you wait the engine will get fuel and starts normally. If not, then there is an other problem. ;) |

No leak in fuel system for sure, and I already wrote that I made this 3sec test... |
i have sometimes the same problem!

Hello,
I've the same Problem like you but only fueltank is Under 1/4. Open the fuelcap and try again. Maybe you have a sparktime Problem !? Sorry my Bad english |

With me is same if fuel tank is full or empty. Thanks |
I think he's talking about the ignition timing. First check, the ignition point is set to 10 degrees to top dead center. And check if there is water inside the distributor.

Ich probire das. Just to be clear - thats it - right? http://www.shrani.si/t/3y/WB/1C3j6q3g/ec08051.jpg P.S. http://www.allmazda.net/parts/XEDOS-6/ zer gutte seite. |
Today I cleaned distributor cap - was clean. I cleaned the connectors that were a bit oxyde.
Problem still here. Changed also spark plugs with new NGK BKR6e-11, no change. I played with position of distribution cap - timing (I hope it is here??) But no position changed the situation. |
